Graduate Assistantships

The Center for Women’s and Gender Studies is hiring graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) for the academic year 2024-2025. Assistantships may be renewable depending on the needs of the program and the candidate’s performance. GTAs in Women’s and Gender Studies must be full-time WVU graduate students in good standing during the fall and spring semesters of 2024-2025. An academic background in women’s and gender studies or a related discipline is preferred. Teaching assistants typically will teach two sections of the WGST 170: Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies during each semester under the supervision of a faculty member in the Center. All GTAs must enroll in and complete the WGST Graduate Certificate, attend a one day training prior to the start of classes and enroll in WGST 790: Teaching Practicum each semester they teach. Appointment is dependent upon a student’s academic progress, teaching effectiveness, and availability of department funds. Normally, GTAs receive support for travel to the National Women's Studies Association conference, or similar professional development opportunities, to enhance their effectiveness in the classroom.
